Tennis at Hampshire
Hampshire Country Club tennis has a fully equipped & professionally staffed pro shop with 7 well maintained Fast Dry (Har-Tru) courts. Hampshire is home to an active program of tennis participation including Men’s & Women’s Westchester County League teams, a complete junior program and a full schedule of events including Twilight Barbecues, Tournaments, Club Championships plus a variety of competitive & social events. In short, Hampshire has something for everyone! The tennis facility also caters to Corporate Outings and Charity Fund Raising events.
Our Director of Tennis is Allan Ruttley. Allan is a USPTA & PPTCA certified Professional with over 20 years experience as a teaching pro both in the USA & Australia. Born and raised in New South Wales, Australia, Allan, a former state ranked junior began his teaching career in the 80’s as an assistant with the McDonalds Junior Squads in Australia and moved to Philadelphia in 1986 where he coached Ladies League teams & Middle States ranked juniors. While in Philadelphia Allan coached & traveled with several juniors competing in the National Championships in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
1989 saw Allan return to Australia where he was a teaching professional for Tony Roche, a former champion player & Australian Davis Cup Captain. The Roche Racquet Resort at Salamander Bay was a full service facility catering to all levels of player, both adult & junior with frequent visits from touring ATP & WTA professional players. In 1991, Allan returned to Connecticut where he taught for 7 years before joining Hampshire in 1998.
Our Head Professional is Martina Ondrejkova (USPTA Certified). Martina, originally from the Slovak Republic, is an NCAA doubles titleholder & recipient of the Wilma Rudolph Award (Most Outstanding Female Collegiate Athlete) and Presidents Award (Most Outstanding International Collegiate Athlete). In addition she received All American team honors, while attending the University of South Alabama where she graduated with a degree in business.
